Bone- a Fide- Biscuits
Makes 30 three-inch bone shaped biscuits
1 teaspoon beef or chicken bouillon
1/2 cup boiled water
1 Cup whole wheat flour.
1 Cup, all-purpose flour.
1/2 cup nonfat milk powder.
1 tablespoon and packed brown sugar.
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil.
1 large egg, room temperature.
1/4 cup fried and crumbled bacon pieces. 4 strips.
1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese.
Preheat your oven to 325°. Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, mix the bullion into the water until dissolved then set aside.
In a large bowl, stir the flours, milk powder and sugar until well mixed. Add the oil, egg and dissolved bouillon and mix to combine. Now add the bacon and cheese, mixing until well combined and a dough has formed.
Flour your work surface. Using your hands, form the dough into a ball and pat it down on the work surface.
Using a lightly floured rolling pin, roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thick.
Use any cookie cutter to cut out your cookies then place them approximately 1/2 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake until the biscuits are firm ~ 30 to 40 minutes.
Let cool completely.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days or in the freezer for up to four months. Thaw completely before serving.
