Mocktails
Mocktails are becoming more and more popular and available in restaurants and at parties. I believe there are several reasons why this is a popular and wonderful trend!
1. Health and Wellness ~ People are adapting healthier lifestyles by choosing to limit or abstain from alcohol together. This has created a demand for nonalcoholic beverages. Mocktails offer a healthier alternative to traditional cocktails that are often high in sugar and calories
2. Designated Drivers ~ There's a growing awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Restaurants, venues and party givers have been more mindful of providing delicious options for the designated driver. It used to be a Diet Coke or tonic/club soda were the only choices. Creative mocktails provide a fun and exciting alternative that allows everyone to enjoy a night out.
3. Inclusivity ~ Mocktails also offer a way to be more inclusive of those who don't drink for personal or religious reasons. In the past, nondrinkers may have felt left out or pressured to conform to social norms, but now they can enjoy a delicious and sophisticated beverage without the alcohol.
4. Creative Flavors ~ Restauranteurs have become more intentional about creating fun and delicious options for the nonalcoholic drinker. With a wide variety of ingredients, flavors and garnishes choose from, bartenders and mixologists can create mocktails that are just as complex and interesting as their alcoholic counterparts. Mocktails allow for experimentation with flavors and ingredients, and they can be just as visually appealing as a traditional cocktail I want share with you a few of my very favorites!
